There are many lovely beaches within easy reach of the house, Clashnessie is only 15 minutes away. Clachtoll is just a little bit further along the coast and has good facilities for families and then, at Achmelvich, is a real jewel of a beach.

On the way to Durness is Oldshoremore beach, or perhaps you fancy the four mile walk over to Sandwood Bay (the haunted beach: surrounded in mystery) but claimed by some as the best beach in Britain.

Durness itself has beautiful Balnakeil beach, if you've time visit the old graveyard on the hill just above the beach.

Often, you will have an entire beach to yourself with only the occasional sheep for company.
